Amy realized that dance was a lifetime passion when she was attending Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. She graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a B.F.A. in Modern Dance in 1997. She danced and choreographed with companies Group Motion and Ausdruckstanz in Philadelphia, and has toured worldwide with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre's second company Ailey II. While living in New York, she choreographed and performed in several states on the east coast. Amy is a Comprehensive Certified Pilates Instructor in Peak Pilates. Pilates has improved her technique as a dancer, and has revealed itself in her everyday life. Amy loves to share Pilates with others so that they too can benefit from the healing effects of Pilates
A Comprehensive certified instructor from Peak Pilates and has been teaching the method for eight years. He first discovered Pilates in a mat class and quickly embraced the entire method. After regular sessions, he began to recognize and understand the exceptional benefits of consistent Pilates work. Now, Mark enjoys the variety when working with his clients, regardless of what brings them to the system - an old injury, the desire to improve posture, well being, to become a better athlete or those that are simply looking for increased overall fitness. Mark has a keen visual sense of proper alignment and focuses on teaching a strong foundation of Pilate’s movement. "There is a place for every body in Pilates"
Mary L. Wilson
Mary first began her practice of Pilates in 1994 while attending the University of Texas at Austin. During her senior year she continued her studies at the University of Oxford. While in England, she practiced at prominent studios in both Oxford and London. Mary received her BA and worked for several years as an archaeologist in Texas and California, all the while continuing her Pilates practice. After several years in the field, Mary decided to trade in her shovel and trowel for a set of knives and followed her passion for nutrition and the culinary arts to New York City.
Mary graduated with top honors from Natural Gourmet Institute, the first and foremost health supportive culinary school in the country. Despite her love for cooking, she wanted something even more rewarding from her career and decided to professionally pursue Pilates and fitness. She received her Comprehensive Classical Instructor Certification through the renowned Peak Pilates program under Master Instructor Nancy Hurd. She concurrently received barre certification through Balance Barre and Personal Trainer Certification through the American Council on Exercise to develop a greater understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, which she applies to her Pilates practice.
All of Mary’s training has culminated to make her a very knowledgeable and well-trained instructor who finds delight in teaching others and keeping her clients safe. Mary is passionate about learning, practicing, and teaching classical Pilates. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to teach in the studio where she trained and excited to join the outstanding team at the Austin Pilates Barn.
